Snohomish Family Photography: Randi

Post by Anna.

These first 4 months of 2013 have been such a whirlwind.  A little while back we set some goals for ourselves and our business for the year.  And I have a confession to make.  It’s only May 1st…and this is a little embarrassing…  But I think we’ve already accomplished everything on our list!  Well, everything except for the promo video.  …But guess what we’re out doing today, right this very minute as you read this post, with our fabulous videographer Chamonix Thursten-Rattue?  :)

This year, before we set our goals (which now seem pitiful since it’s only May and we’ve already accomplished them!  Why didn’t we dream bigger????), we took some time to think about the big picture.  What do we want 2013 to mean for us?  What is the end state that we’re looking for? First we figured that out …and then we laid out a path to make it happen.

One of our biggest goals for the year was to start shooting what we WANT to shoot.  Weddings.  Seniors.  Families.  Love.  Relationships.  People.  And not just any people.  But people who value photography.  People who value our photography.  People who we want to enjoy a glass of wine with after a shoot.  People who become our friends after they are our clients.  People who understand our infatuation with wearing Patagonia, people who believe that a marriage should be even more beautiful than a wedding, people who want their kids to just be themselves during a family shoot rather than stressing about them posing and smiling for the camera.  …And in order to attract those kinds of clients, we knew we had to put ourselves out there.  Because if we want to attract people like us, than we need to let people know what we like and what we’re all about.  But you know what?  That’s not as easy as it sounds.  It’s scary to put yourself out there like that.  But we took the plunge…

And you know what has started to happen?  People sit down in our office for a consult and say things like “we looked at a million wedding photography websites and it wasn’t until we found yours that we felt like we had found our match.  We don’t even want to meet with anyone else because we know you are going to be our photographers.”  Yep.  That just happened.  This week.

And this beautiful session that we’re so excited to share with you this morning is another prime example of us attracting our perfect client.  Because families like this are what it’s all about for us.  This family radiates love.  I don’t even know what else to say.  This is what we want to shoot.  All. The. Time.  Robin+Nick, we cannot thank you enough for giving us the gift of photographing your beautiful family.  We cannot wait to share the rest with you.  Love, R+A

Katie - Okay!! I absolutely love this! Being honest about who you WANT to shoot and putting it out there for everyone. You can tell in your images that when you shoot what you love instead of just shooting, your images reflect that. Awesome job! I love the movement in the mom’s shirt and the little girl’s dress in the first picture. :)ReplyCancel
